In this Advancing Health Equity Requires Examining the History of Genetics presentation, Dr. Bonham and Dr. Donohue discussed the history of eugenics and the field of genetics, including the programs and initiatives of the National Human Genome Research Institute to examine eugenics and scientific racism, explained why examining eugenics is important for research and clinical care in 2022; and finally, the importance of enhancing the diversity of the genomic workforce.

Dr. Vence Bonham is the Acting Deputy Director & Associate Investigator of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Christopher Donohue is a Historian of the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health.
