Educational Modules

NCC develops educational videos ranging from short, animated videos to one-hour-long presentations about specific areas of genetics. These videos are developed to help improve provider knowledge about the genetic service delivery system. Our educational modules are developed for MDs (geneticist and non-geneticist), Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Nurses.

Evidence-Based Guidelines 101

NCC partners with the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics for our Evidence-Based Guidelines 101. In 2021, ACMG published its first Evidence-Based Guideline and continues to expand these guidelines. To make these guidelines more accessible to the non-genetics provider audience, NCC hosts the Evidence-Based Guidelines 101 series.

Genetics for Physician Assistants (PAs)

In Spring 2021, NCC partnered with the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to offer a four-part series about genetics for PAs. The series included how to do a genetics evaluation, pharmacogenetic, direct-to-consumer genetic testing, and how genetics fits into your practice.

Knowledge Nugget Series

Since its inception, NCC has developed and maintained the ACMG ACT Sheets and Algorithms (learn more about the ACMG ACT Sheets here). The ACMG ACT Sheets are a clinical decision support tool to help non-genetics providers understand more about specific genetic conditions found through genetic screening or testing. To make these excellent one-page resources a more active educational resource, NCC publishes Knowledge Nuggets for specific ACT Sheets.

Medical Necessity Webinar Series

In Spring 2022, NCC partnered with The Catalyst Center, an HRSA-funded program that publishes information about health insurance and financing for children and youth with special health care needs, to help explain the medical necessity process (including appeals and denials) to genetics providers.
