ASHG: Facing Our History – Building an Equitable Future Initiative

ASHG released this document to acknowledge and reckon with past injustice, as well as progress toward justice, within the ASHG and the broader human genetics field. This document is the product of a major year-long initiative to evaluate the contributions of genetics to eugenics, racism, inequity, and discrimination and the acknowledgement of the role of genetics professionals either through the promotion of these flawed and dangerous ideas and the policies derived therefrom, or through silence that deprived the debate of reasoned scientific evidence that could have exposed the bias and lack of rigor that tainted these theories.
